Can I come and have a tour of your facility?
We encourage our new students to come and tour our facility so our staff can give you an overview of what goes on throughout the year as well as show you the rooms.
How do I apply for Residence?
You can apply for residence by filling out an online application (Academic Year, Summer Students), or by coming to the office and filling an application out in person, you can also contact us by phone at 250-372-7778 and we will send you the information by mail. Please note that you are required to pay a $275.00 security deposit and a $45.00 application fee when you apply to the residence. Payments for these can be made by Visa, MasterCard, certified cheque, or bank draft. Cash or interact transactions can be made in person at the residence.
What is the Security deposit used for?
The security deposit of $275.00 is required with all applications for the residence. Once you have moved into the residence the security deposit is used as a damage deposit for your room. The deposit will be returned to you after your departure from residence and once your room has been inspected for damages by the residence staff. Please note that the refunds take from 4 to 6 weeks to be processed.
When will I find out if I have been accepted into Residence?
If you send your application in by March there is a good chance that you will be accepted into the residence. The rooms are based on a first come first serve basis. We will start notifying the students who have been accepted as soon as we know how many rooms we have available. At that time we will send out a welcome package. (Please feel free to contact us if you have not heard from us within two weeks of applying).
Can I choose my roommates?
When you are filling out your application please indicate on the application who you would like to room with and we will do everything we can to accommodate you. The later you apply the less of a chance you have to make this happen.
What is included in the Welcome package?
The welcome package will contain all the pertinent information the student needs to move into the residence. At this time we will also let the student know as to which room they will be residing in. This package will be mailed to the student
When can I move into the Residence?
The official move in date for the residence is the Thursday before the September long weekend. You may move into the residence earlier for a fee of $20.00 per day. Please contact us and let us know if you are planning to move in early so we can have your room ready.
Is there any time of the year which I have to move out of my room?
At no time of the academic year do you have to move out of your room. We allow the students to reside in their room for both the winter and spring breaks.
Will I get my money back if I cancel my housing?
All cancellations are subject to the property's current refund policies, and will be issued from our head office in the form of a cheque. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for the refund to be processed. Our cancellation policy can be found in the student license agreement form, and on this website under pricing.
How do I apply for Summer Residence?
Management will notify each resident in March as to whether or not they would like summer residence, and you can let us know at that time.
Will I be notified if a payment is due?
You will be sent a notice every time a payment is coming due.
What are the hour's of administration and central rez?
The front desk is open from 9:00am to 9:00pm Monday to Friday. Central rez is open from 8:00am to 5:00am Monday to Friday and 9:00 am to 5:00 am Saturday and Sunday.
Do you have change, fax machine, postal service, and copier?
Yes we have a fax, and copier machine and you can get change for laundry, vending machines or what have you at the office. You can also mail a letter from the office.
What is available on loan for the students?
With your student card you can sign out several items from the office i.e.: sporting equipment, games, iron, and vacuum.
How many rooms are there per bathroom?
There are four rooms per bathroom.
Are the quads co-ed?
No, all quads are either male or female.
What if I have a conflict with one of my quad mates?
If you have a problem with a quad mate we request that you first try to work the problem out with the quad mate, if it is not possible please see you're RA and they will help you with your situation.
If there is an emergency at night, who do I call?
We have an emergency number to call after hours 250-372-7778, you can also go to the central rez and get the security guard.
Is there security on the premises?
We have a security guard on duty from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am everyday.
Are there laundry facilities available?
We have a large laundry facility in central rez. It has 16 dryers and 10 washers. There is also a TV and air hockey table available to play while doing your laundry. You can get change in the office.
Do I have my own mail box and parcel pickup?
Each student has their own mail box and there is parcel delivery in the office. You may also mail a letter out of the office.
Are you close to shopping and the bus route?
Yes we are only approximately a 5 to 10 minute walk to several grocery and department stores. We are also right on the bus route. We also offer free transportation to and from grocery stores one day a week between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
What are the RA's jobs?
The resident advisors work closely with the staff to help make our environment enjoyable, relaxing, and conducive to your learning experience. The advisors are also instrumental in developing programs; they are trained to point you in the right direction. The resident advisors also work sifts in the office and help with the organization of activities we provide.
How do I become a RA (resident advisor)?
You can submit a resume and cover letter to the manager to be reviewed.
Is housekeeping service offered?
No, it is up to the student to keep their rooms, bathrooms, and common areas clean. There will be monthly room and bathroom checks done to make sure they are up to standard. If the student does not meet their required cleaning schedule of the bathrooms and common areas, they will be charged to have the cleaning done for them.
What is included in my room?
Each room is furnished with a desk and chair, bed, and closet; there is also a fridge, microwave, and sink in each room. The student is totally self contained except for the bathroom and common area. The common areas all have a sink, shelving, and a mirror. The bathrooms are either stand up showers, or a tub and shower and toilet. All rooms are also equipped with hookups for TV, cable and telephone. Hot water and heat are included.
Who do I call if I want internet, cable or phone hookups?
For the first two days of check in weekend Shaw cable on site and available to hookup any one of the above. After that we have the numbers available in the office for you.
How far a walk is it to the Classes?
We are situated on campus and it is only approximately a 2 to 5 minute walk to your classes.
What is available for Parking?
We have a number of parking stalls available for our students for an extra fee.
How will I know what is going on in the residence?
You will receive a monthly newsletter letting you know what will be happening for that month and poster boards in and around our facility will have this information available.
What do I need to bring for my room?

What are the other cooking facilities available to me?
We have a common kitchen in central rez available for all students to use at anytime central rez is open. This kitchen is equipped with an oven microwave, fridge, and sink. This kitchen also has all the cooking utensils.
What are the differences between a Regular, Upgrade and Deluxe room?

What are the room dimensions?
The regular and upgrade rooms are 8ft by 12 ft and the deluxe rooms are 9ft by 12ft.
What is the residence policy on visitors?

What is the residence policy on pets?
There are no pets allowed other then a small fish tank.
Are there any quiet hours in effect?
The quiet hours are from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am Monday to Friday and 12:00 pm TO 7:00 am Saturday and Sunday. Exam quiet hours are in effect 23 hours a day with one hour of grace period at 7:00 pm one week before and during exam time.
Is there an ATM machine on site?
No there is not, but there is one available at TRU which is only a short walk away.
What do I do if it gets really loud in my quad after quit hours?
Call security at 250-372-7778
What if something breaks in my room?
If something breaks in your room you just have to come to the main office or call us and let the office person know and it will be fixed as soon as possible.
